What do you want the new upgrade to look like. Moving from version 1 to version 2, we have to make a new theme. So since we are, then do we want a total new look, a copy of the current look?

why is nothing ever easy?

I think a new look for the new times ahead sounds like a great idea πŸ™‚

Think I'll have to find time this weekend to mock up a redesign for the site and forum on my own server. I'm thinking it the best way to convey my ideas.

Hi Jacci,

I don't really have any opinions on a new look, but I just wanted to say thanks for getting the site back online and for starting to get it updated. Your efforts are definitely appreciated. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

I was thinking that maybe SMF is not the be all forum software. Is there allowance for debate on what to use? I am admitting the argument of user transference, but the old forum could be kept for log reasons, or perhaps upgrade to the most secured version, then use that for a log.

I don't really have an opinion except please please turn on the feature that adds a button at the bottom to jump back up to the top.

I'd like everyone to browse this http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/ and tell me things that are interesting to you and  if you feel like it, why.

Definitely open to suggestions, re type of software, look features etc etc etc. I am partial to smf myself, all my forums are smf2 and heavily modded with extra features to enhance the user experience. The only script i would not consider is modx, as i have played with that and absolutely loathe it.

If we do go with anything other than smf, then this will have to be archived as there is no way i am transferring over 36,169 posts LMAO unless i could find a reliable import script.

I have done what i can here for the moment, primarily with regards to security and have finally been able to stop the mass registrations of spammer bastards, which methinks calls for a happy dance!

The more feedback we get here, the better we can make this for everyone.

I also think we should have some dedicated areas for those who are working on forks, assuming of course that is what they would like, and to offer them as much support as possible.

MyBB is awesome! Love the software a lot. Changed my own board just a couple of weeks ago because I was having loads of spam trouble with phpbb.
I can really recommend it.

This is how MyBB looks like. I adjusted the skin completly by myself in less than 1 hour! http://forum.treknation.net

I'm going to spare myself the effort of design and testing forum software

http://laravel.com/docs/helpers this design should be a great kickstart to the project
