The 3.5.8 version was released because I already have versions 3.6 and 4.0 in progress.
I hope you understand that I can't manage so many versions.
So this is the last version for efiction 3.5. I will create a new version 3.5.9 only if there is a serious bug (fatal error) or there is some my mistake.
So this version is mainly for saving old archives.
Many thanks to all who helped me with testing, and offering a database to develop with. Without you, I would never get so far.

I now don't know if I release a newer version too. It is very hard to make a version that is working for everybody. Not when somebody is using it after months/years I did it and my memory is not as good as it was in old times. (I am too old for this).
It is easier just to do it for my site.
I really hope that there will be an official release with the developer team working on...
On the picture, there is a new installation of 3.6 example and a new email setting of 4.0.
What I need to know - why are settings part of the installation process? It complicated things. Why just not install efiction, then log in and set settings in the admin area?

Just a backup of the original efiction manual.
Note: I have it online at https://docs.e107sk.com/efiction-3-5-5 but it was gone after changing provider. I fixed it, of course, but you never know...
If I left any credits, any available information for this efiction version, let me know.

Thanks, Jimmi! If we updated from 3.5.3 to 3.5.8 would that work, or should we go to 3.5.7 first? (It's my understanding 3.5.3 is identical to 3.5.5 except for php security fixes which were made directly in our codebase without upgrading)
Directly to 3.5.8, but before it, manually change your version in the database from 3.5.3 to 3.5.5 (otherwise you will get the message and redirect to update355.php to update to 3.5.5)
I use a different approach for updating - there are rules/conditions for each version, so if there is any problem, your version will go back to the version with this problem to solve:
- you will get 3.5.6 only if all dates (if I know about them) in the date fields are correctly updated
- you will get 3.5.7 only if your IPs are updated correctly
only then you will get 3.5.8 version. And it will message you field after field.
Sometimes you need to go manually go site/update.php - no idea why, I didn't want to change header.php file too much.
Be aware that your site has newer phpmailer and many custom pages. Not to mention modules.
By the way, I have discord account (new user) so it will be easier to talk than with emails.
