Hey All, Tyler Here

Hey All, Tyler Here

Hello fellow humans (and occasional feline companions), my name is Tyler Harvey, and I’m happy to say that I’ve adopted eFiction!

Who Are You?

My name is Tyler Harvey, and I run a small Canadian web-based business called Sidular. I also use Sidular as my alias in multiple online communities and services, so it’s kinda my nickname now, too. We operate the oldest PlayStation news website in the world, as well as a decade-old website hosting network. Soon, I intend to launch my own video game design and development studio, with a heavy focus on the MMORPG genre of games. I’m also a writer, freelance mostly, and run my own eFiction website that I mostly just use as an archive for some of my fan fictions. No, I won’t tell you what it is, since they’re honestly rather embarrassing… but that’s not the point. The point, is I love writing, and I love creating stories. All in all, I just love creating. Whether it’s video games, websites, or stories. I love being able to create new things, or in the case of eFiction, adopt and expand upon existing things.

Future of eFiction

Let me just be super upfront and direct here, since I know many of you are curious.

I’m a strong believer and supporter of open source projects, so I can happily say that eFiction will always be open source, entirely free, with full user control and customization in mind. Every single feature will be available for free, and eFiction will never have a paid “Pro” version. However, that isn’t to say that I don’t plan on making some changes. As for what those changes entail, I can’t quite say. At least not yet. What I will say, is Artphilia is fully aware of my vision for eFiction moving forward, and seems to be quite happy with my suggested changes and improvements.

While I doubt I will be able to provide actual content or feature updates to the main software for quite some time, I will at the very least make this website more accessible and presentable. I also intend to have eFiction included on various script auto installers, such as Softaculous, and work with web hosting providers to get an eFiction landing page, or to otherwise ensure compatibility with their network.

All in all, I’ve got big plans for eFiction, and really can’t wait to show you all what I’ve got in store.

Stay tuned for future updates. And of course if you should have any questions, feel free to reach out over on our Forums, or as a response to this article. I know this introduction of mine was rather short, so I hope you forgive me for that. I’m honestly just really excited to be able to take over this project, and can’t wait for you all to see what I’ve got planned!

New Forum Software

New Forum Software

Dear Community,

as you have surely noticed, we have switched to a brand new forum software to make it easier for us and our possible successor team. The SMF Forum was spammed to a degree that we could hardly manage. I was searching for a long time, thought about different options and finally found the possibility to install a forum software via WordPress and to take over the old forum completely.

Your user accounts have been taken over, but it is possible that you will have to get a new password sent to you to log in successfully.

New registrations should also be possible, if I have made the settings correctly.

Now I hope that we will find a successor that will continue and modernize eFiction as an ‘Open Source’ project in the sense of the community, so that we all will still have a lot of fun with the script and can maintain our own archives without being dependent on the giants of the scene like and 🙂

Stay creative!

We are still here!

We are still here!

We are so terribly sorry for the lack of news and updates around the website and eFiction itself. Real life is keeping us pretty busy right now. The forum has become a huge problem concerning spammers and we are looking for a alternative solution to keep up the support of the current stable version. Thanks for your patience with us! We haven’t given up on eFi5, but we know that the progress is very slow at the moment. If there is someone else who loves and knows PHP and everything that comes with coding, let us know! Help would be awesome!

Well, where do I begin? November was a bad month for me. On November 1st my mom passed away at age 74. Two weeks later I had my exams nevertheless. You can imagine how hard this month was for me and my family. Revamping the site felt like a therapy. December wasn’t that much better, I was still deeply sad about my loss.
In January I had a terrible accident and crushed my left knee. I was in surgery and now I’m still recovering. The doctors said it would take 3 to 6 months until I’m my old self again.
Sheepy and our two sons are taking good care of me. Thank God! But you can imagine that there was no time for coding since November. Sheepy did not forget about eFiction at all! Neither did I. I just wanted you guys to know what was going on in our lifes.
