Status of eFiction in 2024
Hey all, Tyler here. I know I’ve been silent, and I’d like to take the time to quickly apologize for the general inactivity, as well as updates for eFiction.
To be upfront, a lot has happened in my life, which more or less prevented me from actually updating and maintaining a bunch of my projects, including eFiction. I don’t want to keep you all in the dark here, so here’s a mini update that should hopefully clear stuff up.
- I lost both of my parents in 2022. First my father, and then a few months later, my mother. This has been very hard on me, and is the primary reason pretty much everything I do has been slow or otherwise delayed. I tried my best to keep things going as if nothing happened, but… well, yeah. Figured it would be a nice distraction from reality. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. Ended up crashing and burning as a result.
- eFiction is still being maintained, and I still have every intention of releasing updates. Just haven’t been able to do much due to life stuff. On that note, I know that there’s seemingly a pretty solid fork of eFiction that you can find on our forums that fixes some of the bugs and glitches the current official build has. Definitely check that out. (thanks @Jimmi)
- I will be creating a new Patreon specifically intended for eFiction. Every single dollar earned through this new Patreon will go towards the development of eFiction. The current Patreon will still exist, but it will be used more for general Sidular (company) things moving forward.
As of today, these are my primary projects;
- DoRoyal Website Hosting – this is the main aspect of my business, and is the secondary source of revenue.
- PSX Extreme – this is my main media website, and currently gets over 100,000 visitors every month. It is also my primary source of revenue primarily due to advertisements and sponsorships.
- TFC League – this is an esport league and tournament website for the video game Team Fortress 2. I ran it originally between 2016 and 2019, and will be reviving it in the near future.
- eFiction – this is… well, you know what this is. It’s a sort of passion project of mine, and something I really want to see grow and modernize for a new era. I’ve always been a writer myself, albeit not a great one. Still, I love writing, and love making things for other people. That’s why eFiction is high on my project list.
Anyway, I suppose that’s all for now. Sorry again for my general lack of support and more or less just going radio silent. Wasn’t intentional. Just had a lot on my mind, and needed to focus on my two projects that actually made any sort of money. This wasn’t really done by choice, but was required for survival.
