Thiings in RL have been crazy the last few months. I've been trying to buy a house. (I hate HUD...make that loathe HUD. And banks.) I should be finally closing on my new house next week...after more hassles than I could possibly describe. On the second house that is, I got almost to closing the first time and had to walk away from the deal. I'm also having some health issues that have cut into my ability to work on eFiction. I've been diagnosed with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. So I'm having issues with my vision which means I'm not spending as much time in front of the computer and most of those have to be during work hours when I'm actually earning my keep.
Regarding my website being down. The host moved me to a new server suddenly. I was already working on an updated site so I thought I'd just put the new one up. It took me longer to finish than I thought. It is up now. The url has changed to:
I have most of the downloads back up with the exception of the eFiction 2.0 skins. I'm not sure I will be putting those back up. I've started putting the articles back up as well.
I'm going to try to get eFiction 3.5.1 up this weekend.
Hi Tammy. Glad you're back, and sorry to hear about all the problems. If there is anything I can do around here to make things easier for you, I'd be glad to lend a hand.
i'm glad you're back too,Tammy! I'm sorry to hear about all of the problems. π I hope that you will manage well.
It looks like we'll all just have to learn more php! hehe.
Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

Thanks Jan for noticing I forgot to take down the placeholder index.html. Done now. The site should be working.
I'm glad things have settled down a bit with you Tammy. I hope everything is alright, we're glad you're back π
Tammy,
Sorry about the eye problems. And the house problems... I've been contemplating getting a house through HUD but I've been wary about how smooth that would go.
So we don't have to sign up again to get to the downloads, yes? I tried logging in and it didn't recognise me, then when I did register I got an error message: _FATALERRORQuery: SELECT * FROM gala444prise_infofields WHERE enabled = '1' AND editable = '1' ORDER BY 'order'
Error: (1054) Unknown column 'editable' in 'where clause'
However, I noticed if I clicked download that the downloads seem accessible.
Take care of yourself. I hope you get your house. And 3.5.1 eh?

Buying from HUD can be slow...this is the worst I've had and it's because the inspection found a busted pipe (4 versions of the sales contract later we're ready to close). However, I'm going to have $20-30k in equity when I walk in the door. And if you've never owned a house before there's an $8k tax credit this year through the stimulus plan. God I wish I could get that credit!
Just an update. I did get my house. In between health issues, I've been working on making it comfortably livable (or at least unpacking all the boxes this time). I had surgery on my left eye in mid-May and was forbidden from the computer and reading for a while. Two weeks ago, I had more bleeding in my right eye so I now don't have usable vision in that eye. I go in for surgery on that eye on Tuesday, and then I'm back to no computer and no reading. On the plus side, vision in my left eye is almost back to 20/20. However, they're cutting my hours at work probably in half, so I'll either have more time to work on eFiction after I recover or I'll be getting a 2nd job and have less time. I'll keep you posted.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Tammy. I hope everything turns out all right. My dad had an unexpected open heart surgery recently, so I understand health issues. I can imagine not being able to read or use the computer must have been tough.

Yes, and they wanted me to restrict my activity to 20% of what I normally would do...which pretty much left watching TV which was about the only thing I was allowed to do. I hate daytime TV.
Best wishes Tammy for a speedy and full recovery. What a terrible thing that must be for you, and on top of that all the other stress with the house situation. I would normally say use this time to take it easy and relax, let your batteries recharge, but I suspect you might be the kind of person who finds doing nothing more frustrating than having something to do. Daytime tv can be a torture of its own special kind and might prove harder to cope with than the surgery. Good luck, thoughts are with you.
why is nothing ever easy?

Ah come on Tammy, everyone loves watching those "Who's my baby's daddy?" episodes of Maury Povich. Seems like anytime I"m home sick and turn on the tv that's what's on. They have their moments of LOL.
Take care of yourself. Keeping my fingers cross that the 2nd surgery will correct your eye and things will take a nice happy turn.
