Fixed that when I read the other thread. Uploaded and nothing has changed as far as the Array thing goes.
Crappola! thought it might have helped. well.. there goes my genius idea... back to the thinking board!

Don't hurt your brain over my little problem here. You've been a great help and if worse comes to worse, I'll remove the Story End module. I imagine that will solve the problem completely.
Okay, one thing I can think of without looking into the files further. When you changed strip_slashes to stripslashes, did you copy & replace it, or did you merely delete the underscore? If you copy & replaced, it's possible you may have accidentally deleted something you weren't meant to. Usually that would lead to other errors, but just want to check, because I've done that kind of thing before.
Unless there's something really odd about your setup, I bet it's got something to do with the challenges module as well. Maybe it's not installed properly and they're not playing well together.
I just deleted the underscore.
There were huge huge issues with getting the Challenges module working properly and I had to call in a friend for help, so I'm not going to be able to say what database changes may have been made to fix that since I didn't do it myself. Are the two usually compatable on 3.5?
I honestly have no idea. I've not even touched the challenges module and 3.5 is relatively new.
I definitely think it's highly likely it's that section of storyend.php causing issue, but I can't figure it out at the moment. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
Well, thank you for trying. I'll keep poking at it myself as well.
If anyone else has any suggestions, let me know. I'll try just about anything to keep this mod.
I have the same modules installed as you Jaded and am running 3.5 as well so I'm just flabberghasted (wow, that's a fingerful to type at nearly midnight!!) that you are having a problem I never had myself and I can't seem to think of anything more to do. Which is not to say I'm giving up... but I am for tonight though cause work tomorrow will be a little painful if I don't sleep soon.

What I think would probably be best is to uninstall all the modules, verify that all the information was actually removed properly from your databases, and then reinstall them. Especially since Jacynthe has the same modules running, it makes it seem like something got goofed up at your site in particular.
Anyway, I have Story End, Beta Reader and the Tracker module at my test site, and I'm not having trouble either. And you did say something went wonky with your Challenges module install. I'd recommend reinstalling the Story End before the Challenges and see what happens.
You might also consider overwriting all your basic eFic files as well, just be sure that everything was uploaded properly. Sometimes FTP can fail for some and that can cause issues.
strip_slashes() is just one error on its own, and shouldn't present the Array problem. (strip_slashes() does not exist; stripslashes() on the other hand does.)
The problem with the Array is that we're printing an array... say:
$array = array('hello', 'world');
print $array;
Instead of imploding the array (implode(' ', $array) for example, would output: hello world), it's not... It's just outputting an array (hence the debug error).
The thing that's puzzling me is that comment elimination doesn't lead to any solutions (except for commenting all the series links :)), and it SHOULD be imploding, because that's what one of the lines reads. π
Oh, and the fact that this happens to some series, not all. xD
Edit:
In the format_story() function I added this:
if (is_array($text)) $text = implode($text);
And checked my problem story and:
100TonightBefore venturing to destroy a horcrux, Regulus thinks of his brother and pays a final visit to his father.Disclaimer: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners. So. We got the word count, title, summary, my disclaimer and I'm guessing numbers re: categories/characters and the username. π

I have to admit, I'm extremely hesitant to uninstall the Challenges module because it took me from April until Decemeber to get it working properly. Many many nights of trial and error and more error before I finally contacted a friend for help. If I uninstall it and can't reinstall it again, I'm back to square one and it just wouldn't be fair to interrupt her busy schedule and have her come fix my mess once again. If it comes down to a choice between these two mods, I want to keep challenges. So, I will attempt uninstalling/reinstalling Story End later on tonight, but I don't want to touch Challenges. Please understand that I'm not trying to be stubborn, but this project was put on hold for 8 months over that module (and my extremely limited knowledge of php and MySQL) and I've delayed it's actual public release far too long as is.
I will also try overwriting the basic files as suggested.
The skin I'm using is a modified version of this (third skin down). Thought maybe I should share that info as well in case there's any way that could be affecting this.

I'm messing around with the files (put the bad text in the other post for ref.)... It displays the text, but doesn't display the series information...
Jaded, if you don't particularly care for the series information, then in the modules/storyend/storyend.php comment out the series code...
This:
$seriesquery = "SELECT series.title, series.seriesid, list.inorder FROM ".TABLEPREFIX."fanfiction_inseries as list, ".TABLEPREFIX."fanfiction_series as series WHERE list.sid = '".$storyinfo['sid']."' AND series.seriesid = list.seriesid";
To this:
if(count($seSeries) > 0) $storyend->assign("seriesinfo", implode("<br />", $seSeries));

Jenny, I'm embarassed to say that I'm a little lost when it comes to php terms such as "implode", but I think I get what you mean just the same.
I'll try what you've suggested and see what happens.
