is possible to download somewhere version where fanfiction_genres table was used?
I can see it was removed in some updates and data moved to the classification system, but I would like to see original solution.
They left query with story.gid in the actual version, otherwise, I wouldn't know about this. Field genre left in series table too.
I am curious too why this table (with some others) was replaced with a classification system.

Other than my obviously aging website (at least for 2.x), not really. I have recently had to collate 20 years' worth of eFiction cruft stored in places on my NAS primarily for historical purposes, and version 2.x was a tiny part of that. I'm also going through other means to find some related historical eFiction files - skins, modules, patch references, etc. - and did have some success there.
What is amusing, however, is that you can still find version 1.x (which also used a dedicated genres database table) on Sourceforge, but not 2.x...

As for eFiction 3.x itself, that table never existed. The classifications feature came first, then somehow a dedicated genres feature was planned at some point (the file first showed up in Beta 6), but it was never updated since then for favor of staying with the classifications system. Therefore, eFiction 2.0.7 would be the last version to actually have a dedicated genres table.
