Will upgrading from 3.4.3 to 3.5 remove longtext?

Hi there,

I moved from a custom fanfic site CMS to eFiction in May and I'm very happy with eFiction so far, but I have a question about upgrading from 3.4.3 to 3.5.

My previous CMS stored the stories in a longtext MySQL field. When I moved to eFiction, I put the stories into the storytext field in the fanfiction_chapters table. I had to change the storytext field type to longtext so that the stories wouldn't be cut off.

My question is: if I upgrade from 3.4.3 to 3.5 will the storytext field type be changed from longtext? I don't want to upgrade and find I've lost the longest stories in the process.

Thanks,

Charl

I don't think it will, but you should always backup your database before making any major changes. Since you are upgrading and some files might also be altered, you should back those up too.

Thanks! I'll try it out on my test site and see how it goes. πŸ™‚

No it shouldn't, but as Carissa said...always back up before doing an update.
