Okay, I suppose now you have to make sure all the database values are correct in the config.php; that will hopefully get rid of the database errors.

How does one go about making sure the database values are correct in the config?  Do I need to cross reference between my sql stuff and what is in this config file?

The values in the config.php need to be correct from what you originally started off with to connect to the database. Do you not have the information on hand? (like the database name, the username and password to the database?)

Not so sure about that, really.  Like I said, someone else (who no longer exists in regard to our archive) installed the software nearly four years ago.  Maybe I am not meant to upgrade at all, and will be forced to use version 1.1 for eternity.  LOL  this upgrade is giving me headaches.

Oh, apologies. :3

Nooo, don't give up hope. 😛 I think I've only ever seen one site do the upgrade without any problems -- reported on here, anyway.

If the original config file from the 1.1 file has all the database values, copy and paste that over. I think, anyway. I wouldn't post it here because it contains passwords and such. 😛

I think giving up is a better option.  I don't have a program that will open the php file so I can read it.  I have MS, and stress is not so good for me (I can lose my vision over it), thus the giving up -- because this just gets more and more stressful right now.

Thank you very much for all of your advice.

edit to add:  Someone is using dreamweaver to look at it for me.

Okay, the two files are not even remotely similar.  The old one contains skin versions and other stuff and the new one is short and sweet.

You only need to use Microsoft's Notepad to look at php files, dreamweaver is not necessary at all.

Well, I just restored it to it's prior state, so there is nothing to see, unless I start the upgrade again.  Something tells me I am not meant to upgrade this mess!

babaca:  Thank you for the rec of the program.  I will look for it.  Ooops.  I run OS X 10.2, so nothing is ever compatible for me!  Thanks anyway!
