I have an idea for an eFiction 3.0 mod that some folks may like, but I stopped trying to learn PHP over a year ago and back then I was only a beginner, so someone else would have to code the mod him/herself. However, I looked just now, and I can't find a place to request mods here.

If it's okay (I hope it is), the mod would allow people to email or otherwise send a message to all the readers who have him/her on their favorite authors list, or else all of the readers who have favorite-listed one or all of their stories (or maybe reviewed while logged in).

What made me want this was, as a member of the Fire and Ice Archive, I posted a couple of my stories there, but they were never finished because I lost interest. However, I've just returned to work on one of them after it had been on hiatus for over two years. I would like to be able to tell my readers there (and on various other archives that use eFiction) that I and my story are back in action. I had a lot of readers and reviewers before I abandoned those stories, and I think contacting each of them individually using their contact form might be a pretty bad idea, especially if the site has a spam feature enabled. Not only that, but I'd feel pretty lame having to use the contact form so many times when a better way is possible.

What do you think? Would any of you want to build this mod? I'd be so grateful. I don't have a website anymore, so naturally, I don't have an eFiction archive either. But I'd recommend a mod like this to the admins, and if I ever get a new site (and I hope someday I will!), I'd gladly use it myself.

Just to clarify, I wouldn't need a bunch of options (meaning who to contact: reviewers, "favoriters" etc), just one would be helpful enough, and of course, a temporary way to disable the mod if need be is always good. Good, but not a requirement.

Thanks for reading my idea! I hope someone is willing to take on this project, since I can't do it.

Rebecca, here is the thread I mentioned in the email: https://efiction.org/forums/index.php?topic=8574.0

This may be confusing to everyone else - I run the Fire and Ice Archive she mentioned so we talked about this topic via email a bit. I suggested she add this to the eFic 4 / eFic+ feature suggestions thread.

Thanks, Lyndsie! I posted it there. Sorry I took so long to do it! I hope they put it in somehow. πŸ™‚ I like the idea you mentioned about a private messaging system. Very clever. πŸ™‚
