We're in the process of creating our efiction software data for a mobile site software, but the migration can't locate the text in each of our chapters. We can migrate from the front end but it will take much more time. I'm hoping someone can explain where the text is stored for each chapter.

First of all, are you doing this with eFiction 5?
If so, I hope you understand we are still in an early alpha-stage, at best.
The text, in the eFiction 3, is either stored in a table called fanfiction_chapters or in text files that, if I'm not mistaken, stories/$author/$chapterid.txt
Apart from that, I am not sure I fully understand what you mean, you want to move the data to a different software or a different site ?
We are converting an efiction 3.5.1 to WordPress 4.5 or 4.6 so we can have mobile website functioning. During the migration we could not find the chapter text for our stories in the database. I've forward the info you gave me to my developer.

Unless you ultimately want to switch to Wordpress, there's responsive layouts for eFiction 3, also.
