Sorry for the super long silence regarding eFiction! I know many of you probably forgot that we even existed, and are using forked versions of eFiction created by our community. (thanks a ton for that btw)
Consider this article our big and grand reveal of eFiction 4! While there’s not much to share as of right this second, I can at the very least confirm the following;
- eFiction 4 will require PHP 8.3 or newer.
- eFiction 4 is a full conversion of eFiction 3.x, rebuilt from the ground up.
- eFiction 4 is backwards compatible with all previous 3.x stories / authors.

Excited to see some movement with efiction. There's really no comparison (for me, and my archive anyway).
This is great news! Do you have any kind of an ETA? We have heavily modded our site so an upgrade would probably take a lot for us to implement but we've been looking into potentially paying for an upgrade to keep current and get around some bugs we can't solve on our own. Speaking of, will the epubversion mod be part of efiction4? (Our bug is we can't get it to zip the images it includes in epubs, which makes some of our epubs unwieldy to the say the least.)
