Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible to, somehow, tweak the like/dislike rating function so that there is only available the possibility to like, so that it works like the 'kudos' button at AO3. The users of my archive have been showing a great interest in this function.
I just wanted to 2nd that I'm also very interested in a feature like this for our archive. I know we have the readers but we struggle to get people to leave reviews for various reasons, "Kudos" or Likes is a good way to get some feedback and let writers know their stuff is being read and liked while also being good for our apparently very shy audience!
I like the system at the Spuffy Archive Elysian Fields (which HAS to be the most together eFiction site out there!). At the top of stories it lists the number of "Likes" and you can click and see who liked the story. That may be their own modification but I'm curious if it's possible to get something like that going on our archive.
If I did switch to the Like system, how could I have it display the number of likes and possibly show who liked the stories? (and also could I maybe remove the dislike selection?)
Now first of all, 1) I despise Kudos for the very reason that an author has put a lof of effort (most times) into a story, and the reader can't take a minute of his/her time to drop at least one sentence and 2) I am not the one doing eFiction 3 stuff (with the exception of security stuff), but ...
... since there seems to be demand for the "lazy reviewer" button, I will check if it can be implemented in eFiction 5 - in such a way that the admin can enable or disable this.
Note: For the better of mankind I do not write ff, but since coding is sort of writing too, I feel with all those that wonder how thousands of clicks can't even generate one (even criticising) review. So even if I get a kudos squeezed into the current review system, it will be bothering the user with the fact that the author does not get the proper credit.
Thank you very much for considering this feature!
I agree, a one sentence review definitely beats a "kudos", but a kudos is better than nothing which is what our archive is currently seeing review wise >.<
