I'm very upset. Somehow someone broke into my site and totally trashed it. All the work I've done is gone. All the stories people have posted are gone. Someone even changed the title to thieves r us where fanfics come to die. Now the only place I ever posted my username and password was in this forum. I don't know who is responsible but I do know whoever it is is related to a certain someone who shall remain nameless. I've been away from my site due to a fatal illness and just was told by one of my mods what happened. I don't even have any access cause whoever did this changed my password. My email is still down and everytime I try to get a new password it says an email cannot be sent at this time and to contact an admin. What exactly am I suppose to do now? I can't even close the site as down for maintance. I think whoever did this is a real lowlife. I know my username was stolen from here (Not blaming any of you wonderful mods you've all been awesome). I worked really hard on this site and have been very VERY sick lately. I would really appreciate some help as quickly as possible to at least get my password back so I can rebuild the site as sick as I am. Can someone please PLEASE help me. I'd like to close the site down for maintance but can't log on to do that.

You should still have access to your database, unless it was your cPanel (or equivalent) password that was stolen. If you can access it, you can change anything you like in there, pretty much. You can change your password, but note that it's md5 hashed. Doing a quick search found this generator: http://gtools.org/tool/md5-hash-generator/ So type the desired password there and it will generator the hashed password that you can use to replace what you've got in fanfiction_authors for your account. fanfiction_authors also has the email field to change the email address. You can also go to fanfiction_settings and set maintenance to 1 to turn maintenance mode on.
If someone has stolen/changed your actual cPanel/hosting account password, contact your host immediately about resetting it.
Contact your web host and see if they have backups of your files/site. I see that your host is Site5, have you tried contacting support and seeing if they can restore it?
This is from their forum:

Think your site has been hacked?
If your sites have been hacked, then you will need to determine the cause and fix the script or change the password that caused the problem. Then after you have found and fixed the problem, reload the site from your most recent "known good" backup. If you just reload a site without fixing the problem, it will get hacked again in a matter of hours or minutes. Hackers just wait for people to bring sites back up so they can do it again.
Customer service may be able to help as they may have a recent backup, but that backup may not be an "unhacked" version. And customer service cannot go through site scripts looking for holes. The Site5 Terms Of Service clearly state that you are responsible for having good backups of your site and making sure your site is secure.
You should always be in a position to recover your own sites. Having said that, I know customer service will do what they can to help you.
There seems to always be a tendency to "blame the server" if you are hacked. The server is rarely compromised. Yes it can happen. But if it did happen, we are surely not going to post it in the public forum as an invite.
So please do not start threads about a "hacked site".
If you require assistance, please contact Customer Service
No one in the forum can help you with recovery issues.
I would also double-check your mods to make sure they are who they say they are if they are Level 1 Admins.
If your password was stolen from here, then someone must have some sort of really serious grudge and was tracking you so I would change ALL your passwords (up to and including your personal e-mail). Your password was not up that long, Tammy and the other mods are careful like that.
Skins made by Kali are no longer supported!
Someone DOES have a serious grudge against me and they use efiction as well so I wouldn't be surprised. I am working on changing all my passwords and I don't give anyone a level 1 admin access.
As for site5 I contacted them and they said that there was nothing they can do. The backups are only good for 48 hours and because I didn't know sooner because I was away with illness (and still am very very sick) there's nothing they can do. I was hoping I could talk to Becca again. Is there a way to contact her? I think she is the only one who can help me at this point. Can someone have her contact me through email? I don't know how to contact her.

Someone broke into mine too. I was able to restore the site but I am locked out of my Admin. Is there a way to reset the password?
I know who did it and trust me I am giving them my wrath but in the mean time....... I can't get into my fanfiction site itself they changed my email addy so I can't even force a lost password for me. My Cpanel password is good I can access my Cpanel
Thanks!
You can set a new password through the database. I believe eFiction uses plain md5, so all you need to do is hash your new one it and you can insert that in the place of your old password.
