I am just having problems... http://www.meijinhada.org/fallendown/index.php
I fixed the 406 error I had in an earlier post by talking with my host support; they identified it as a mod_security trip, and so I had them turn it off. So no more 406 errors, yay.
However - and I find this odd - I can't re-edit my larger chapters still. I uploaded my newest chapter (at 12578 words) with no problem. However, I can't re-edit it. I can't re-edit any of the larger chapters I have for my stories, and by large, I mean at least over 10,000 words. If I try, it simply returns to the Edit Chapter screen, with all of the text missing. I believe if I upload a text file, I can circumvent this problem, but I want to be able to use TinyMCE and paste my text, because I write in Word. I don't have a word limit, I don't use the database to store my stories, and my folder is CHMOD'd properly. My upload limit is 2MB, so it can't be that. Is there still a limit somewhere I'm unaware of?
Oh, and just to be really odd....I can hand-type it in, and it works. But I can't paste anything in past about 8,998 words, or at least in this one particular chapter I'm testing. Hand-typing the text works, though. π
Are you saying that when you try to paste something in, nothing appears, or are you saying that the pasting process works fine, it's after hitting 'preview' or 'submit' that the pasted text disappears?

Pasting works fine, then after hitting preview or submit, it simply reloads the Edit page, with the pasted text missing. Sorry if that wasn't clear. It also changes the look of the Edit page a bit; the window for pasting the Author Note disappears, and the text shows as it would in the story, and two bars appear between it and End Notes (also no window). The two bars actually look like the text windows, only shrunken down. And obviously, the End Notes move to a different location, above the Story Text box, when it should be BELOW it. All of this happens after I hit preview or submit.
If you try to edit a large chapter and put in a smaller amount of text (say 1000 words), what happens then?
It works fine. It shows me the edited chapter, or it will save it like normal. No problems at all. What's odd is that it doesn't seem to be EXACTLY 10,000 words; I have chapters that were originally in the 9,000 word range complete, and I can edit them fine. But this one chapter I've been working on I can only get to about 8,900 before it starts acting weird. It, in totality, had 12,578 words. I assume all my chapters over 10,000 will do the same; I picked out a few at random, and they did in fact go wonky. I haven't tested all of them however, because this is a 35 chapter story so far, and half of them are larger.
Do you think it could be this: https://efiction.org/wiki/index.php5?title=Server_Errors_and_CURL ? Perhaps it's not generating an error message but is still occurring.
Nope; the word doesn't occur until way past the mark where it starts acting up. Lynx isn't in the story, nor is Python.
Anyone? Ideas? π
To clarify: I did check some of the smaller chapters that allow me to edit. And surprisingly, I think I used "curl" way more often when I started the story, as the smaller chapters are rife with the word, yet the larger chapters barely have it at all. But I can edit the smaller chapters. So I assume it's not the mod_security (which is turned off) being tripped. Something is tripping after a certain word count.
Most likely your server is timing out because it can't process that much text.
