Hi
I currently have installed smf and x7chat where the x7chat uses the smf for registering accounts etc.
Will the new efiction bridge for smf work still if smf is also linked with x7chat?
I am looking to have a system where once logged in users can use chatrooms forums and the efiction software.
I am checking because last time when I used the bridges, I found that it worked ok for admins but then all the style sheets etc got lost for normal users.
Many thanks
Kate
I don't know about the chat program..but my setup is this: Efiction, SMF and Coppermine. I have efic bridged with SMF and SMF bridged with Coppermine. The login holds for both so far,so my users can go from either script to the other and don't find themselves logged out or getting session errors so far.

Hi
Thanks for the input.
Does it matter which way the bridging works?
I already have x7chat and smf bridged so we had a chatting system already working,
so would it upset the system if I then bridged efic with smf..
I was also thinking of using other scripts with smf so we have one log in system.
I was using the e107 portal before with x7 chat and smf and the efiction but that system didnt work. It was ok for the admins but lost all the themes and styles for the normal users. So I either was not bridging in the right order or it just didnt work.
Since then I decided to start from scratch again but now we are just using smf, x7chat and poss the efic if it works but also thinking of galleries and a blog system.
Thanks Chelle π
As long as x-chat is using the smf user tables, then the efiction-smf bridge should work fine. When you bridge the two, efiction uses the smf user tables too, so in theory at least, it shouldn't matter if you have x-chat bridged too.
My thinking follows with Carissa's. I don't think it will. I had Coppemine bridged with SMF first, then I added the Efic-SMF Bridge. There were some problems with the Efic bridge, but they didn't cause any errors to accessing or doing operations with my Coppermine..so from observation, they all seem to play nice. If you're still uncertain, you can always do a test setup using a copy of your existing database to be on the safe side and see about any kinks. π

Hi Guys
I finally clicked what I was doing wrong the last time.... I think ....
I have now successfully got it all bridged I have just made a test user account with the efiction log in and registration with the bridge, which directs u to smf. Then when you have registered it takes u back to efiction.
What it was at the top of the queries.php it says smf.smf_ tables.....this was the bit I was getting wrong.
I tried changing that when the other paths were not working and re read the instructions again and when I changed it to match the smf_ tables in the database it all worked :).
I take it if I want to use gallery or coppermine then it would be the same principle in making sure the database tables match and the path? I am still confused over relative and absolute paths but I will get here. I am a complete newbie at php coding but intermediate with html.
Now i just have to work out how I want the efiction to look on the site to blend it in as my site uses a main iframe on the index page.
is there some coding i can change in the efiction that will make the efiction menu links fall in the iframe?
I tried and tried again until I got it. Although I have left it a while before trying again
Many thanks for your help xxx
thanks Kate
