I wasn't sure whether to put this in theme support, mod dev, or new feature request.

http://fanforge.net/index.php?skin=test

What happens: When clicking 'read more' the following page is unable to be changed with css without distorting other pages.
What I'd like: For now to be able to center the text on the screen, add a border, padding, and a 650px width. I do plan on many more changes as I develop the theme.

I could do a hack kinda like this:

div + div + div + div .content {stuff; }

but I'd rather not. I tried adding CSS to the newsbox in my theme, but it was ignored. It seems the output code needs changed, like a few more CSS class attributes, maybe a newsstory.php block. I hadn't made a block before. I'll look into it. Thank you in advance. This script is has been a great help for launching my site.

I haven't studied eFic3 much, but isn't "newsbox.tpl" responsible for that page? You could try to define your own div classes there.

Yes, i had attempted this. When I used 'firebug' to view where the css was located at, it was located where it should be, but it took no content with it. It ended up as a well spaced, lonely span.

in newsbox.tpl

<span class="newsstory">{newsstory}</span>

That code is ignored.

The newsbox.tpl is displayed by {news_content} and displays {newsstory}. When clicked, {newsstory} expands to the full page with it own url via its UID. So if I change one CSS (say for .content) it'll mess up the whole site wherever .content is located at. Thanks again.

You have two choices...you can either put your news block in a containing box, or use "#news .content {stuff}" and it will then only change the content in the newsbox, not the entire site.

I contained it, changed the css some of the way I wanted it, but it still changes both what is in {news_content} and {newsstory} I cannot code for them separately. I can hack a way in FF by specifying a URL, but it would not work in IE. Thank you for your support.

You can do this. I just did it on my testing site.

My newsbox.tpl looks like this:

<!-- START BLOCK : newsbox -->

<div class="newsbox">
<div class="newstitle">{newstitle}</div>
<div class="newsstory">{adminoptions}<br />{newsstory}</div>
<div class="newsfooter">Posted by {newsauthor} on {newsdate} ({newscomments})</div>
</div>
<!-- END BLOCK : newsbox -->

I added this to my stylesheet:

#home .newsbox .newsstory {font-weight: bold; color: #FFF;}

And this is the result: http://efictiontest.timeturner.net/eFiction30/index.php *

Here is what happens when you click on read more: http://efictiontest.timeturner.net/eFiction30/news.php?action=newsstory&nid=57

*Obviously, this styling is only for testing and not something I'd go with on my live site.
