What I did so far: I am copying the reviews blocks, pages, variables, text, php etc and renaming all them from review to comment. comments.tpl existed, so reviews.tpl is now storycomments.tpl. reviewid is now commid. reviews.php is comments.php
If there are any that may be conflicting, I appreciate input on this. Otherwise, trial and error.
Once this is all done and I have cloned the story reviews section, I will see if I can make it thread differently. Thank you.

What is the purpose of renaming reviews comments?
Because if you just want to change all the instances of "Reviews" to "Comments" on your site, there's a much better way of going about that than trying to make a whole new thing. And there are comments for stories already when you favorite a story, author or series, so yeah, we'll probably need to know what you are trying to accomplish and why.

i had wanted reviews and comments separated so comments would be more social and reviews would be more functional. I had thought to use reviews as a template.
I saw that comments are there when added to favorites, but i wouldn't mind having it so they can without the prerequisite. thanks.
additionally, i'd like to have (comments - 23) just like reviews are on stories

Most people just install forums for that type of thing...
Maybe you should try adding a new field to the review form to have different types of reviews. You would use the same things, the review form that already exists, the review pages, ect, but the reviewer, or commentor, would select whether their review is an actual review or comments. Then you could try to pull up the two types seperately, like you could list all reviews that are reviews, and list all reviews that are marked as comments. Is that feasible?

Not a bad concept, Jan. I'll look into it. Forums? No, that wouldn't work for this. I'm expanding this site into a social network so i'll need to add lots of the global features and turn them into local features. Like individual news, shoutbox, etc. A work in progress.
