Description: Integration of the web statistics program FireStats with eFiction 3.x.

  • Real time statistics
  • Recent referrers
  • Search engine keywords
  • Recent popular pages
  • Browser and OS trees, grouped by what matters
  • IP to country - know where your visitors are surfing from
  • 'Raw log' of recent hits
  • Excluding unwanted hits from the database
o By IP address or by IP range.
o By user-agent (to be used to filter bots)
o By URL (to filter referrers spam)
  • Ajax UI, no need to reload the whole page - just press the β€˜refresh statistics’ button to get the latest data.
  • A single installation can monitor multiple sites on the same server.
  • Multiple users support, with ability to control which sites each user can access.
  • Designed to work on all browsers. (Tested on Firefox, Explorer, Opera etc)

Sounds interesting, I may have to take a look.

One questions, can you elaborate on the Google privacy issues?  I have not seen anything substantial about this.  I run Analytics on my site so if there is a real issue I would like to know about it.

As per FireStats: http://firestats.cc/wiki/GAPrivacy

Google collect information, and use it to profit. From Google privacy policy:

Google collects personal information when you register for a Google service or otherwise voluntarily provide such information. We may combine personal information collected from you with information from other Google services or third parties to provide a better user experience, including customizing content for you.
    ...
We may use personal information to provide the services you've requested, including services that display customized content and advertising

Sites that use Google Analytics service provide Google with information about their site traffic, and more importantly, about their visitors movement across the Internet. and the users never have to agree to Google privacy policy!
the larger the number of sites using Google Analytics, the more complete Google's picture will be.
Another issue is, that even if Google is an angel, if and when the American government will force it to disclose its information, by setting a new law for example, it will do it.

This leads me to believe sites should not use Google Analytics services, but use their own local services. FireStats is one such service, but there are many other.

It is their personal opinion not mine πŸ™‚ I'll do some research to help shed light on the issue.

Hm no I've never even heard of it, however I just took a look at it. While it loads very fast it seems to be missing some of the functionalities of FireStats such as logging which pages are popular and from what pages exactly did people come from your site (the exact pages, not just the domains). The breakdowns aren't as specific πŸ™ It is pretty nice too though.

I must admit, I saw the "popular pages" somewhere in the feature description. But when browsing the demo I also couldn't find it.

Thanks for showing interest guys. In case you're wondering why there hasn't been any updates, it's because I'm having computer problems at the moment which I'm trying to resolve first before working on this project.
