I've noticed that there seems to be an issue with the table of contents display.  I've set it up in Admin to display on multi-chaptered fictions but it display's on ALL fics.  including one-shots.  I've already checked the user panel and it doesn't matter if the display contents is on or off in the user panel if it's on for multi-chaptered fics in Admin the contents displays no matter what.

I'm not sure the code know the difference between a one shot and a multi chaptered story, hmm

Well if the story is one chapter and complete, I'd say that's, like a huge clue.  I've been on other efiction sites where the table on shows on fic's with more than one chapter.

Still nothing on this.  I know on another eFiction site the table of contents only appears on multi-chapter fictions.  I don't want the reader to have to see the table of contents unless there is more than one chapter.

I'm pretty sure that's a mod. Check in the mod forum.

Okay, I checked the list of mods AND the list of hooks, I can't find anything on how to do this and I know that Hexfiles does this.

I'm having trouble with this, too - I keep trying to alter the display settings so it doesn't default to showing a Table of Contents, but it's still there. Has anyone figured out how to fix this yet?

In the admin settings.  Your personal settings in your profile will override this however.

That did it!  Thank you!

Is there a way to set the user preference default to "no table of contents," so no one accidentally overrides the lack of table of contents? I'd rather have it default to "off" than to "on" just to keep things clean and streamlined.

It's set to the site default at the time the person registers.  Anyone registering from now on at your site will have the index set to off.
