You need to give the username.  The sites in maintenance mode so we can't see the user profile.

I think I know what happened.  The mysql user for the site probably doesn't have permission to SHOW the indexes.  If you weren't having problems with your series, just use phpmyadmin to update your version number.

Have the same error.

Es ist ein schwerer MySQL-Fehler aufgetreten .
Query: SHOW INDEX FROM efic_fanfiction_inseries WHERE Key_name = 'seriesid'
Error: ()

Sounds good the thingi with the phpmyadmin, but where can I change/update the version number?

Sorry it didn't change it for me. I change the Version from 3.3.1 (that's what was in the database, I actually used 3.5.2) to 3.5.3 and then tried to activate the update again. But I still get that error

Es ist ein schwerer MySQL-Fehler aufgetreten .
Query: SHOW INDEX FROM efic_fanfiction_inseries WHERE Key_name = 'seriesid'
Error: ()

Here my specification

URL to your eFiction: http://www.poeschic.de/efic
Version of eFiction: 3.5.2
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 4.1.22-log
Version of MySQL: 5.0.51a
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: fatal, mysql, error, Key_name = 'seriesid', fanfiction_inseries
State the nature of your problem: I got this when updating to version 3.5.3 from 3.5.2:

Is there no one who can help with this? I wanted update but I got that error. I played the old files from 3.5.2. over the new ones and (thank god) it works again, but now it tells me again that I need to update. 😐 πŸ™ 😑

You shouldn't need to run the update again if you've changed the version number.  In fact, it shouldnt work.

I didn't run the Update again. I ran the Update first, then got the Error, then followed the advice to change the version in the database (in the table settings) but still had the same Error. Only then I played back the files of the Version 3.5.2 and I am happy that it still works. But I would like to update the Version to 3.5.3 and get it work. Maybe I should backup the Data then make a clean installation of the newest version and play the backup of the datas back. Or is there another way?

You can get that exact error ONLY running the update.  So what error are you getting AFTER you run the update to 3.5.3?  Cause it's not that one.

Yes that one.  That one is ONLY going to show up when running the update.  It's not anywhere else in the script.  So DON'T run the update just change your version number from 3.5.2 to 3.5.3.

What do you mean by that? What is the Update there for when I shall not use it... ? πŸ˜•
The version is changed to 3.5.3. Look here...

Click to see the whole picture

And that is what the Version Check from eFiction (after the version change in the DB) looks like.

I am having this exact same problem, which is not marked SOLVED and so I'm commenting to it. I just updated from 3.5.2 to 3.5.3, and I cannot complete the update.

URL to your eFiction: http://fiction.entstcommunity.org
Version of eFiction: 3.5.3
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 4.4.7
Version of MySQL: 4.1.22-standard
Have you searched for your problem: Yes -- this is the relevant thread
If so, what terms did you try: A fatal MySQL error was encountered. Query: SHOW INDEX FROM fanfiction_inseries WHERE Key_name = 'seriesid'
State the nature of your problem: (Below)
Do you have a test account for us? No

Error message:

A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
Query: SHOW INDEX FROM fanfiction_inseries WHERE Key_name = 'seriesid'
Error: (1064) You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'WHERE Key_name = 'seriesid'' at line 1

I've edited the fanfiction_settings PHP file within PhPMyAdmin to version > 3.5.3. I've also tried editing it to 3.5.2 and 3.5.1, plus clearing the cache every time. Nothing works. If I rename the update.php file (so it won't execute), then the entire site gets a 404 Not Found error.

I'd appreciate any help!
