Hi,

I'm a little bit confused on the concept of Characters.  Currently, I have my site set up with three categories:  Fan Fiction, Original Fiction, Poetry.  Right now, I'm working on adding stories to the Fan Fiction category.  The first one, is from a Series called Ah My Goddess, so I added the series, and then added my story (Future's Blessings).

Now I want to highlight the main character(s) tin the story (Skuld), but when I add characters to the site, I'm only given the option to add them to the Category (Fan Fiction in this case).  Wouldn't it make more sense to add the character to the Series (Ah My Goddess) instead?

when you add them to a category, from within the story submission/edit they will appear under 'characters' and allow you to then add them there. I am missing character for aa my goddess manga here, so only burst angel anime characters show for now. Both lists would show here otherwise.

I guess I don't understand what the purpose of Categories are and Series are?  I thought Categories would be broad, like the type of writing, while the Series, would have a collection of stories that all about a particular Series.  My thinking is that a Series contains Characters, not a Category.

Also, where do you define the Genre's?  Is that a mod?

You can add more classifications in the admin panel. I use categories for series title and I don't use series, but thats up to you.

So Series is like if I have a multiple story 'book', like a sequal to a story I've written?  I would group both stories under a Series?

Pretty much, for once I actually looked into it since I am interested in having a 'fandom' sort. That is to say, I could selectively grab a bunch of categories and place them under one approp named 'fandom' title. Just wishful thinking on my part. Perhaps thats what you thought it might be before.

Senkusha: yes, that is the correct interpretation of series.

The reason characters are tied to categories is because that stuff should be defined before you open a site, whereas a series is meant to be added later. A series just brings together a couple of stories. A series still has to be placed into a category, which is how you are able to select characters for it.
