Hi, I'm setting up a small community. I am archiving a number of stories that were posted on livejournal, and I would like to use the chapter end notes section for the commentary that happened in the original community.
One of these transcriptions worked, but I've been getting "internal server error" messages, which I bet means that my character limit is too low for me to store these conversations this way. I am archiving the stories themselves with files, not the database.
Any tips for me?
Indeed the other data is stored on sql and you are putting too much in. See this post here for the fix

thank you, Itanshi!
At the moment, I am putting everything in the main text file, To enable this, I am entering a single word in "main text" and replacing the story file with the complete one via ftp *tears hair*
Doubtful that it's the length in the database that is the problem. Generally if it's the database it just cuts off the end. You don't get the 500 error. More likely because of the error you're receiving, the upload of all that text is being timed out by your server. It could also be the old "curl" problem. A specific word or words in the text is forbidden by the server setup and it's throwing that error. The most common culprit in that case is "curl".
And "curl" is a common word in my fandom, what with the hair and all! ๐ฎ
Why, Tammy? Is it a command word in some programming language or something?
yup. You can try to change all instances of "curl" to have something in the middle of it- i think it was "c<---!>url" or something like that that would make it work. But there are other words like curl that could be blocked.
Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

wouldn't unicode or ascii work?

Maybe, but you're still going through and editing all instances of those words.
