URL to your eFiction: http://www.wyndewalker.com/SecretArchive/
Version of eFiction: I'm 90% sure I'm using version 3.5, either that or the version just before it.
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: Er, no? Not sure what this means so i have to assume no.
Version of PHP: 5.2.5
Version of MySQL: 4.1.22-standard
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: _FATALERROR _NOTCONNECTED
State the nature of your problem: _FATALERROR _NOTCONNECTED

I setup a private archive for myself on my website in a password protected directory. It was password protected through my CPanel. My site host made some changes on the backend without announcing anything and now if you use FrontPage, which I do for the rest of my site, you have to password the directory through FrontPage rather than CPanel. All well and good except that now I cannot get into the directory that was password protected.
Support from my site host has been a joke as they seem hung up on the fact that I want to password protect the directory rather than the fact that I can no longer access the archive through the internet. I do have access to the files through FTP and the file manager which is why I was wondering if I can extract the data from them?
I tried moving all of the files to a newly created directory but then I get this message _FATALERROR _NOTCONNECTED rather than the Internal Server Error message I had been getting. The search I did on the forum here seems to indicate that I'm going to have to do a completely new install. Luckily I didn't have a huge amount in the archive, I think. It's been a little while since I last worked on it. Even if I can't retrieve the stories themselves I'm hoping to at least retrieve the names of categories/sub-categories and hopefully at least the titles of what I did have up. Thankfully I have back up copies of the stories on my various computers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, either to get it back up and running or getting the info out of the files and then reinstalling. Thanks!

Er, like I said it's been awhile since I've worked on this. How would I do that if I could access it? I tried going to SecretArchive/admin.php and got the _FATALERROR _NOTCONNECTED error message again but I'm not sure that was the right place to go.

phpMyadmin is separate to eFiction. It should be located in your cPanel somewhere. If you have access to it, you'll be able to export all your information, hopefully. πŸ™‚

archive: dramione.org
site: accio.nu

Available for skin/mod commission! πŸ™‚

Check your config.php file.  It looks like you're just not connecting to your database.  If you can edit your config to connect, you should be good to go.

::headdesk:: I didn't think it had been all that long since I last accessed my archive but apparently it's been more than a year. I finally got back an intelligent 'actually responding to the question I asked and not just what they'd decided I'd asked' response from support at my host provider. I switched site host's about a year ago and apparently I didn't verify that the plan I chose included MySQL and PHP. Which is kind of annoying since my CPanel lists MySQL and PHP versions I just apparently don't have access to them. This also leads me to believe that the database was deleted which would explain why I'm getting the fatalerror_notconnected message. There's no database to connect to.
On the off chance that the database is still there in the directory I'm backing it up to my business site which I know has MySQL and PHP and I'll see if I can access it by some wild chance through there. If not I guess I'll just have to start completely from scratch instead of partially.
My thanks to everyone who answered. I'll let you know what happens either way.

::sigh:: Yep, it looks like the database is just gone so I'm going to have to start all over again. πŸ˜₯
Thanks for trying to help though.
