Was hoping someone could help -
I've recently become aware of my site userbase growing radically (5 people+ a day) and for a small fandom, and even smaller 'ship in that fandom this is abnormal for me.
Having looked at the accounts they all appear to be "bot" accounts - is there anything I can do to stop them signing up? I've managedd to remove them via phpmyadmin - but I fear by tomorrow another 5 will ave signed up.
Is there a mod / something I've missed in the settings that will prevent this?
I've just upgraded from 3.2.1 to 3.3 in the hopes that it might make a difference.
Hmm, I may have this too, but I'm not terribly diligent atm so I'd like to ask, "How do you tell if they are bots?"

my clue to bots was the fact that all their email addresses were something like "abcde@hotmail.com" and the fact they all had "nice!" or "interesting" as their bio...
and thanks Jenny, I'd forgotten that there was a catchpa in the settings... *is stupid*
so I guess this is solved.
