Question: How can I get the fields in the user's profile to show when viewed? When I view a user's profile, I don't see the Livejournal field, I don't see the two fields I added either. In fact, the only fields I saw present when viewing one of the user's profile only showed: Beta-reader: ... Gender: ... The Beta field and the Gender field. I don't see the others.
Ah, i have thi sone, in admin go to 'profile information' and turn them on

They are all already on "on". They still don't appear in user's profile.
Have you filled in the info in them?
If you don't type anything into Livejournal for instance, it doesn't appear.

An example: I have a field and set it for "text" box where the user can type the response in, but it is not showing at all. I've checked every settings link and found nothing that could cause these preference not to show. I've done everything correctly. All of them enabled.
try this on a default skin, i've ported a skin from 2-3 and i had nothing show until i updated the variables

When I go here:
http://www.infinite-whispers.com/Fiction/viewuser.php?skin=IWFlash&uid=256
I can see the link for Livejournal there. So it must be working on some level.

I went back and checked other fields under that specific user's profile. I added her LJ name for the LJ box, and I check the "yes" "no" option for the three fields I created. I still do not see anything showing for the ones I created. Am I suppose to be doing something other than creating the fields? I would really like for this thing to work. I have a total of three that I've created. One is a selection box for "yes" "no", one is on a drop-down selection for "yes" "no", and one is a text field for the user to type text.
I'm curious, what fields did you create?

The three questions in bold is what I've created.
Favorite Character (this one is set on "text" for member input)
Read or Write Slash (this one is either the bullet selection of drop-down menu select for "yes" "no" option.)
Read or Write Het (this one is either the bullet selection of drop-down menu select for "yes" "no" option.)
I'm pretty sure you'll have to add them to your skin. They won't show up automatically.
Add {name} to your skins, with "name" being the name listed on the "edit profile field" page, not what is listed under name on the admin>profile information page. That's the title. (I think the page to add this to is profile.tpl page. If you don't have it in your skin folder, look in the default_tpls folder.) This is wrong...I prematurely hit post before I checked.
Two (maybe three) questions/suggestions.
1) Do you have your site bridged with your forums? If so, then the author fields will not show up.
2) If your site is not bridged, make sure the fields you created aren't set to hidden
3) Likewise, make sure you have {authorfields} in your skin.
I do have authorfields in the profile file.
I don't have anything bridged with the efiction.
How would I know if the fields I created or set to hidden? I have them enabled. If there's another way to display them, I don't know.
I'm directing this to Carissa since I'm not 100% sure, but I think the questions would also have to have a presence in Panel. Isn't that right? Carissa?
If that is the case then
Go to Admin->Panel
I would sort it to P - Member Profile. Click on Add New Panel then fill out
Name: (the name you call your questions)
Title: (the title you created for them in Profile Info)
URL to Panel: (leave this blank)
Level: 0
Hidden: (don't check it)
Type: P (for member profile)
Click the Submit button.
In theory (because I've not tested this) it should work.
Try it with one of your questions first (and if it works then the rest should be fine. If it doesn't work you can always delete the Panel, just make sure it's the correct one).

Erm... was I suppose to have the Profile panel set for "P" for profile page? I've only glanced at the panel page only once up until now. When I looked at it, I saw Profile, but it didn't have "P" it had "A" for admin. Is that correct? Or should I change that to "P"?
Profile Information stays as A for Admin. There's a dropdown list, in it, look for P Member Profile and it will list all associated with member profiles... don't change the Profile Information selection. Don't change anything that has A as the code.
When you change the panel pulldown to P - Member Profile you will see:
Add New Panel
Contact P - Member Profile Edit | Delete
Stories by {author} P - Member Profile Edit | Delete
Series by {author} P - Member Profile Edit | Delete
Reviews by {author} P - Member Profile Edit | Delete
Recommendations by {author} P - Member Profile Edit | Delete
Just click the Add New Panel and add the info you want to appear in Member profiles.
