How can I add a link to the Browse page? I was hoping it was something simple, like editing the browse.tpl page but after giving it a look I think it's more complicated... lol!

You mean like additional to "Titles" and stuff? It's in admin->panels. You want to add search under panel B. 🙂

it sounds so easy but of course something goes wrong for me... lol!
so I added the panel for Search and put the url link for it, but on the browse page - when I click on Search - it sends me to a different url which ends up being an error page http://nsync-fiction.com/browse.php
bummer. any suggestions? 🙁
What information did you use to fill out the form in Panels?
Name: search
Title: Search
URL to Panel: search.php (I even edited this and changed it to the longer http url and it did nothing)
Level: 0
Hidden: unchecked
Type: B
The browse panels are specific panel files that get included inside the browse.php page. The search page is a separate page, so what you're trying won't work. You can't add a search option to the list without MOD'ing browse.php. I'm not on my own computer right now so I can't tell you anything more specific as I don't have the eFiction files to look at.

Ah, I use something like this to link the toptens.
At the beginning of browse.php after all the comments (line 39?) add:
if(isset($_GET['type']) && $_GET['type'] == "search") header ("Location: search.php");
