I read some threads similar to this but they didn't solve my problem.
I installed e-fiction and asked my friend to post a story to test it. She did it wil no problems. The next day, in the morning, I get an e-mail from a member saying she can't post stories because when she clicks "add story" it says that she doesn't have permission to access that function. A few hours later, another member posted 7 stories, and also didn't have a problem. I asked my friend, the one who posted a story the day before, to try to post another one to see if she got the same problem, and she did, she also got the message saying she didn't have permission to access the funcion. I registered again as a regular member and clicked on "Add story" and didn't get that message, I could post it normally. I e-mailed the member who got the problem asking if she could please register again and re-try, she did and still got the same problem.
Since the beginning I already had the "Turn off unsolicited submissions" set to "No" and "Automatically validate all stories" to "Yes".
certain words such as curl, curling, curled etc can cause that problem. Which might explain why one person can post and another can't. We had this on our efiction as well and it turned out ot be that word. Check to see if it is in the text your member was trying to post, if it wasn't then at least you can eliminate that as a possibility and look into something else.

I don't think that's the problem because it's before they type/upload the text, they can't even see the "Add new story" form, they click "Add new story" and get this message.
It'd either be a skin or the associated php pages are modified/out of date. More info is needed.
Is this using the default skin? Any Mods? Link to Site? Could use a test account name and pass etc. Thanks.

She also modified where it says "add new story" because I'm using the archive to post music videos, but the problem was there before she changed it.
What did she change, exactly?
If you modified the script, especially with anything related to your problem, then you should to reupload the original versions of the script and fix what is wrong there before you modify it in any way. This helps figure out what is wrong with it, if we all have the same versions and copies of the script. Then once it's working, adding the changes back should be okay.
Test and see if the problem happens using a default skin, like CSSZen.

Jan-AQ, here's what I just asked my friend, the one who could post one day and then couldn't on the next day, to do:
"First go to "Add new video" and see if you still get that problem, saying you don't have access to that funcion.
then go to account info, edit preferences, and on "skin" change it to CSSZen and Submit. Then try "add new video" again and see if you still get the message."
And here's what she said
"It worked without changing the skin. I didn't get the error mesasge. "
*sighs*...I think this is totally a random bug, because she could post before, then she couldn't, and now she can again...
she also got the message saying she didn't have permission to access the funcion.
Maybe the message was a Forbidden message you get from a server sometimes, and not something in eFiction.
Or otherwise if it was something in eFiction, maybe someone accidentally turned off allowed submissions so she got that message. I have admins, and sometimes they change things when they play around with the site.

I'm sorry that I'm bringing this thread back, but I still couldn't solve it and today I found out something curious.
So, a friend of mine who had already posted a video a while ago was gonna post another one today, and she got that message. So she gave me her password and asked me to try to solve it, so I logged in with her username, clicked on "add new video" and could see the posting page perfectly. I copied the direct link to that page, gave it to her and asked her to try again, and she got the message again.
No one has an idea of why this is happening or how to fix it???
Sounds like an issue with sessions or cookies at her end. Ask her to try a different browser.
I'll ask her, but the thing is that many people are having the same problem...
Then it may be a session problem at your host's end.
