I am pretty computor stupid so simplest explanation would be appreciated.

The nook accepts any adobe reader file, so I'd go that route if I had time.

On a sony reader you could save the fanfic stories as .txt files and they should load on the reader with no problems. I have a Sony reader and have been putting fanfics on it like that. And if it's a multiple chapter fic on say ff.net I use Fanfiction downloader: http://fanfictionloader.appspot.com/
save the files as epub then upload them on my reader.
There are a ton of ways to move fanfiction to an ereader. It's just a matter of finding what works for you.

You're welcome! Now if you are trying to download stories from adultfanfiction.net, the link above doesn't really work. You might have to download a program called Fanfiction Downloader. You can get it from here: http://www.home-eisele.de/downloader_e.php
It's suppose to save as rtf, html, mobi and pdf (but I don't find it does pdf or mobi all that well). The developer is working on a new version but it's still in alpha for the most part.
