So, moving on to the next issue:

Member groups/levels/permissions

In theory, it exists in eFi 3.5, but it's not excessively documented, so this needs to be completely redone.

Now I am scratching together different permissions that an admin might want to assign, for now I am using the name groups, but let's see where this is going, nothings carved in stone, except, well, for stone carvings .... erm, where were we?

So groups planned so far are:

Member (registered, approved)
Trusted Member (no spam check on posts, no flood control - trusted fellas)
Author (no further rights than to post stories, depending on the configuration, this group can be self assigned)
Trusted Author (Can post stories without moderation)
Archive moderator (will check and approve - or not - newly posted stories, can moderate story reviews) - limited to one ore more fandoms/sections
Global archive moderator (like the moderator above, but also: can add challenges, news, adds tags if needed/or only request tags, not sure here)
Admin (messes up everything)

Do you think that's sufficient or do we need more groups? Hit me

I think those groups will work just fine.

Updated:

Added a group named "authors", if this group becomes locked, only certain members can post stories.

I like what you've done (and your description of the Admin!).

Is it possible when the archive is set up to enable all members joining to be given "Trusted Author" level? I don't like to moderate unless I have to, and giving people the ability to post straight away will save the Admin and the Author time in getting their stories published.

So far, all authors that are marked "validated" will become trusted authors, others are regular authors.
Or wait, you mean have everybody be a trusted author - well you can turn off story validation (yet to be implemented) for a similar effect. Would that suffice?

Turning off story validation would be perfect.

I don't like to moderate my archives either. πŸ˜€

This sounds great! Would it be possible to have these as numbered groups/levels and then we can rename and check which "privileges" we want to give them?

Available for skin/mod commission! πŸ™‚

Honestly, I was trying to keep things simple, using an 8-bit mask to define group memberships, that would allow for very simple implementation.
How detailed would you like to see rights available for definition/distribution, could you hit me with a few examples?

Supporters who get secret access to bonus features but no admin functions.

Choosing privileges would be nice.
