"header.php" refers to file "browse.js" but there is no such file in my eFiction filder. Should I remove reference from header or find this "browse.js" somewhere?

Code from "header.php":

if(isset($displayform) && $displayform == 1) {
echo "<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="""._BASEDIR."includes/browse.js"></script>"
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="""._BASEDIR."includes/xmlhttp.js"></script>";[/code"]

well the ".js" means javascript. So I'm guessing this is a program that runs the browse elements via javascript. I probably wouldn't take it out. It would probably break the ability to see anything in browse.

I'm not a programmer though. But if you don't need to take something out... don't take it out.

Did you look in your includes folder? It should be there, else, as Babaca says, you won't be able to browse...

Yes of course. There is no such file.

I've downloaded latest eF arhive (eFiction34.zip) and there is no "bowse.js" in it.

Tracer is correct.  I've checked my 3.4.2 download includes folder and the only .js files are xmlhttp and userselect.

Could you copy what's in it and paste it here maybe? I don't see the file anywhere myself.

I just noticed this too. 12389 error hits, 404 trying to find browse.js and the file isnt there. I re-downloaded the newest efiction release and it's not in the package.

Can someone else upload it or should I just edit the line out thats calling on it?

This topic was over 120 days old but theres still no fix to the problem and the file still isnt included with eFiction?

Is there a compelling reason you feel you need to remove it? Is it giving you errors on your website or something?

^ Generally, it's better to remove calls for files that don't exist.

Here's what Tammy said when she released 3.4 regarding the browse function:

This should also help those pages load faster as the entire list of categories and characters no longer needs to be sent with the page as javascript.

I'm assuming this is a leftover file that accidently got left in the download. If your site is working properly, you can remove the call. I'll move this to the bugs forum.

I guess I'll go dig and see where it's referenced.

Thanks for the help. Hope it gets fixed.
