I can see your 'news story', but in Admin->Blocks->News you have it set to Active but when you click options, you should see something that says:
Number of items:
Length of Summary:
What numbers did you but in those spaces? Number of items shows the maximum numbers of news stories you want to appear on your index page. Length of Summary is the number of characters you want to appear on the story before it ends in a "Read More" link.
Plug some numbers in there and see if it doesn't resolve your conflict.

Well, I had 15 and blank (thought 0 was a default value like in other places) i changed it to 1500: same error

hmm, I do not think the numbers are related to the error I see. This is my interpretation of the issue. a variable in en.php is trying to be defined by the news block or a related page and it conflicts.
