On my site, when you add a story, only 2 of the boxes are marked with a * . When you try to submit a story with just these two filled in, as an inexperienced, or impatient person would (ok, they'd probably add their story too) , you get an error telling you the required fields. eFiction should mark these 5 (title, summary, rating, category, and story text) with a star, and a guide telling the user that these fields are required.

I get the same error here. This thread is a little old (a month old) but I'm having the same problem and I thought I'd post here instead of starting a new thread.
When I try to add a new story, only two boxes are required: the title and summary. However, when I try to submit the story, I get this: "Some of the required information is missing. Please check your input. Required fields are title, summary, categories, rating, and story text." which makes the first page misleading.
It's not too big of a problem since I made my site private (I removed registration and login so that only I will add stories), but I cannot add any stories at all. The rating drop down menu is completely blank and I cannot select anything, which makes it impossible to add any stories if the rating box is one of the requirements. Will this be fixed or is there a way I can fix this?

You will have to add ratings. You can do that through the admin panel. If you want, you can create one rating, such as "N/A" or "None".
You could also request a mod on the mod forum, but I don't know if/when you'd get one. I suggest you just add a rating.
Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.
