Problem - Skin not sticking

Steps to reproduce - I have a skin 'default' as default, I change my own skin to 'test' and submit and it changes. i try to change it to 'default'. I click the home page link, no change, I click  'ctrl + F5' no change. I went back to preferences and it is 'test' once again.

Also, if i change it to 'blue' from 'test' it works. if i change it 'default' from the skin drop down on the top right corner of the front page. it works, but in pref once again back to 'test' it works and 'default' does not work.

rest in the sig

test account - testadmin, password same as before

--

upon further testing. i clicked 'csszen' and it changed, but it would not change back to 'default' unless i used the drop down box (not the one inside pref). Again, 'blue' worked from 'csszen'. 'Blue' to 'dark' worked. 'Dark' to 'default' did not. 'dark' to 'elegance' worked. 'Elegance' to 'default' did not. 'Elegance' to 'test' worked. Something wrong with my default skin? Any thoughts? This is really annoying.

--

Another observation. If I use the skin selector block you may put on the index page, it does not remember it for next time, but upon selecting default from it and then going to your account and clicking submit, it saves it. I assume this is normal behavior so I wonder if this will narrow the problem down any.

---

More testing. I changed the default to 'elegance' and switched to 'csszen' and it stuck. I chose 'default' and it stuck. I chose 'elegance' and it did not stick. I changed the default skin to 'dark' and going back to 'dark' from 'default' did not work. I changed to 'blue' and it worked. I changed to dark and it did not work. This feels so arbitrary. I changed to 'default' and it worked. I changed to 'dark2' and it worked. I changed the default back to 'default' and I could not change my skin to 'default'. Now i think the next line is meaningless.

Note - test, blue, dark, and pink are based on the same code. dark2 and default are based on the same code.

Bumping this a bit, a non admin has noticed this on my site. I unlocked all the skins again so you can test them as a nonadmin.

user: test
Pass: test

I used firefox 2.0.0.8 and 3pre_a9 and that test account, went through each skin one at a time and not one switched to the default theme, but each one consecutively brought up the next for testing. Could this be something wrong with my theme? Dark2 is a copy of it with edits and does not exhibit this problem.

Apparently restarting the browser fixes this. Not sure that is satisfactory.

What browser do you now use? Your non admin? Is it still a problem? What operating system?

I have not noticed this problem on my site, even trying to get it. I have people trying out all my skins for fun, and haven't had it reported. I can't figure out why one skin may be having problems when another one isn't. I use Firefox mostly, and Windows.

Sounds like it's a cookie or session issue on your end if restarting the browser fixed it.
