URL to your eFiction: Xampp install

Version of eFiction: 3.5.1 (latest SVN)

Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: no

Version of PHP: 5.2.5

Version of MySQL: 5.0.51a

Have you searched for your problem: yes

If so, what terms did you try: categorylist.php, category list

State the nature of your problem:
I'm having problems selecting subcategories when posting a new story in Internet Explorer 7. The list only shows main categories, but not their subcategories. However, Firefox works. This is skin-independent. There seems to be an issue with includes/categorylist.php. The 3.5 version works, but 3.5.1 brings up the IE problem.
And here is a javascript error (don't know the exact english translation):

Line:  26
Character:  11
Error: Procedure aborted c00ce56e.
Code:  0
URL:  http://localhost/sf-ecke/stories.php?action=newstory

Do you have a test account for us? Not yet, I'll create one after I've update my production site to 3.5.1.

Might be a problem with the encoding.

Same problem as above, will not work with IE8 either. I am also experiencing the same problem on another install I am doing for a 3rd party.

Skins made by Kali are no longer supported!

It's an encoding problem.  The stuff I added to fix the other encoding problem. πŸ™  So we're back to a few places where special characters in the names of categories and characters may cause issues.  Nothing I can do about that ATM as we'll have to rip out and replace all the AJAX to fix it.

Yeah, the SVN file fixes this issue.  Fixing this issue will cause another one to reappear, but this was the more severe issue.

Hello,

I'm having the same exact problem. Sub categories don't show up when adding a story.. I've just installed this script yesterday, so I'm assuming I have the latest version of everything.. Any help would be appreciated. Also you mention it solved this problem but made something else reappear? What is that?

Thanks.

Edit: Our site is at http://www.tandyservices.com/stories
I found out that when using FireFox, I can double click a main category and the sub-categories will appear. However, this does not work in IE.

There is a newer version of some of the files that hasn't yet been included in any official download. The most recent fixes the issue. It's here: http://efiction.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/efiction?view=rev&revision=16

I'm confused. Someone reported the same problem to me (I generally use Firefox) and so I added all the new updates linked to in the other thread, but now I can't access my admin panel on firefox or IE.  πŸ˜• Was I supposed to do an older version?

To fix the problem I think all you really need is includes/categorylist.php, and maybe includes/javascript.js. The link above is for the files in revision 16, but there is a newer revised version of includes/categorylist.php.

Here's a link to all the files to find the newest: http://efiction.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/efiction/includes/

I would revert back to your original files and then only update includes/categorylist.php and then includes/javascript.js if that doesn't do the trick.

(I suspect the problem might be languages/en_admin.php.)

Thanks!! I had put them all in, cos I wasn't sure which were relevant. As it turns out, I accidentally put the first one over admin.php instead of admin/validate.php. >.< I just fixed it, and it seems to work again (well, it's appearing, so I'm guessing so) πŸ™‚

Someone please update as to whether or not this has been fixed (newest SVN files) by testing on their archive. Thank you!
