URL to your eFiction: http://www.libraryofmoria.com/a/
Version of eFiction: 3.5.5
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 5.2.17
Version of MySQL: 4.1.22
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: stories disappear, orphaned stories
State the nature of your problem:
The stories are not accessible. If you click on an author, you see that they have X stories but when you click the link 'stories by ...' the stories are not listed. The exception to that is a test story that my co-mod posted today ( http://www.libraryofmoria.com/a/viewuser.php?action=storiesby&uid=41). In this case the story is listed but the text is not accessible.
If you clink on a direct link to a story it's the same: the link goes to a page where there's no title or author and there's no text. The category is orphaned. Here's an example: http://www.libraryofmoria.com/a/viewstory.php?sid=4007
Do you have a test account for us? Yes ( http://www.libraryofmoria.com/a/viewuser.php?uid=153). pw test
We'd be really grateful for any help whatsoever.
Just wanted to bump this because I want to see you guys get your archive back online soon!
In my extremely limited eFic/PHP/MySQL knowledge it seems like your archive isn't pulling the info it needs from your fanfiction_stories table, does the "Optimize Database tables" option under Efiction>Admin>Archive Maintenance do anything? What does the database table look like, does it have all the stories listed or just the approved one? Any chance something got renamed or change (like your sitekey or table prefix setting in efic>Admin>settings>site information, or maybe even the name of your stories table in your database?)
Hi!
Thanks so much for replying and apologies for my long delay in getting back to your kind message. My first guess was something like that - for some reason the database tables were disconnected. I did try the 'optimize database' function. We did not change the database names (I try as hard as I can not to get in there, lol).
In the end it turned out that the chapters database had been wiped clean. I can only assume this was some glitch from our webhost... I hope!!! (We have had hackers twice so there's always room for suspicion of something else...)
The webhost people are trying to restore that table from a recent backup.
Thanks so muck for your input!!
Tal
