I never paid that much attention to it before now, but last week , I had a lot of SQL issues. My stories and chapter tables kept crashing. My host would go in and use the backup to reload them and then a few hours later they would crash again. I know they were in there messing with stuff to get it working right, and since this issue (although it's happened before) seemed to escalate and really cause problems about the same time. And just for the record, my host is complete clueless with anything efiction related, which just seems silly to me since it's written a language they are supposed to specialize in.
My co-owner and I believe that they probably changed a bunch of stuff while trying to fix the tables and that's what caused the problem. So, that's probably how that happened. The install was nearly flawless so I'm pretty sure that everything was uploaded correctly. I didn't mess with it and I know my host did, so that's  my thoughts on it. (shrugs)

This might be a time to point out that one should not rely completely on the host's backups!  If they even *do* backup.

You can easily export your whole MySQL database(s) to a flat text file that you can easily import back if needed (or for comparison) using the phpMyAdmin software.  That way if something goes wrong, or someone goes messing with it, you can get back to something that was working before.

Program files can easily be redownloaded (and modified again) if needed, but losing that data that was added after install (or worse, the settings you eventually settled on!) can be devastating.

efiction - 3.5.3
MySql - 5.5.32
php - 5.5.22
Linex - Apache 2.2.17
