Version of PHP: PHP version 5.2.5
Version of MySQL: 5.4.5
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: Validation
State the nature of your problem: Persistent validation error

Have an error popping up that's driving me nuts.

Stories uploaded are constantly appearing  with the error "Access denied. This story has not been validated by the adminstrators of this site."

Now the stories in question have been entered by validated users (myself, on my account) and are manually validated as well. I've even gone as far as editing the database manually to reflect all validation values to 1.  However, they do not appear to any users but admin.

The stories are located in the archive - an example is http://shkinkmeme.taleya.net/viewstory.php?sid=28  but when a non-admin attempts to view them, it negates the SID in the URL (reduces it to a semicolon) and proclaims them invalid due to lack of validation.

Ideas?

EDIT: Sorry! Missed the bit about validated members... Um, this might seem like an odd question, but were the people you were entering the stories for already validated member? I don't know why, but when you enter stories as admin, then transfer ownership to other members, it can have some odd effects.

The example you give is working normally for me. Can you give some more? I checked quite a few but it seems they're all actually recommendations because I kept getting sent to LJ posts.

Really The fic loads in full?    I've asked other people to check as guests and they were getting the same error when they click on "chapter one".  I'll toss it up into a chat room again and see what happens.

Yup, the code's been modified (It's for a kink meme) so the first title goes to the Meme thread in question. If you have a look at the stories under my name (Only put mine up so far as I already have the html files) you will see there's a secondary link called "Archive Copy" - that's what links to the story in the database. (And throws up the error)

All members are validated - and it's only my stories that are up in the Archive at the moment. Hence the wtf on the error, as I'm validated and the site admin.

It didn't load when I clicked the link you provided but when I went to titles for that particular fic this is the link it provides:

http://community.livejournal.com/shkinkmeme/1629.html?thread=7261#t7261

and that link works.

It's your "archived" copies that won't load. Have you loaded them into the efiction database and validated them?  (Are the archiived version 'copy and paste' of the livejournal stories?

Interesting, I must not have been looking at the right thing. When I tried to click the chapter title I got the message. It's weird that the chapter link is showing up at all if the story isn't validated.

You said you modified the code; my gut reaction is to think that it probably has something to do with it. I would search viewstory.php for instances of _ACCESSDENIED and see if they are near your mods.

Hmm. Thing is, viewstory.php wasn't modifed. Stories.php was and the storyform.php to include the meme link  (as well as the database obviously, added the field "memelink" to the fanfiction_stories table)    but  viewstory is running the original Efiction code.  It's definitely baulking on the validation code  as it runs fine  logged in as author or admin.

Took a snapshot of one of the stories ("A slight case of gibberish") - you can see it at .  As you can see, the story has a validation value of 1.  I've also tried 2, with no joy.

ok, we isolated the fault to the TOC. For some reason it wasn't parsing the SID correctly.

Just commented out the code πŸ˜›  The inline works fine, so bugger it πŸ™‚
