Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: "Mail Users"
State the nature of your problem: When I use the "Mail Users" feature on my site, the members receive an email from the correct email address, but it says my full legal name instead of something like "Quoth the Warbler Admin." I'm wondering if there is a way to change the name displayed when folks receive the email, outside of changing the name in my gmail (which I've done, but it still displays as my personal name)
Do you have a test account for us? No
How do you have your mail configured?
I'm not sure what you mean, but I have the email account listed as the admin email in my "Site Information" page of the settings. I've changed the name in the gmail. Beyond that, I'm not sure how to configure the mail settings...I guess that's my question. XD
I was wondering if you had SMTP set up in Settings > Mail Settings. To be honest, though, I'm not super well versed in email stuff.
This may be a dumb question, but you've confirmed that when you send mail through Gmail *not* using your site, the name is displaying the way you want it to?
It may be useful to see the header on one of these emails. Probably not the greatest idea to post here given your issue, but if you're comfortable you could forward one to me.
When I send emails from the Gmail and not the site, the name does display correctly. It's only through the site that it's using my real name instead of an autonomous one I've set up with Gmail.
Where can I forward an email to you?
I'm sorry, I suck and haven't been here in a long time. You can use the email address in my profile.
