We need to stop uploading and commenting on fic for a while while we prepare to move the archive to another ISP (and domain name). is there a "read only" mode? I want users to be able to continue reading the stories.

From the settings page in admin panel, close submissions and disable reviews. Users will still be able to view stories, but will not be able to add stories or leave reviews.
