Hi, everyone. It's been awhile, but I need help, again. My site got attacked so I deleted all of my files and reuploaded everything from my hard drive. Now, it says error 404. How can I fix this? I have a database from a couple of months. Should I download the latest version and upload my database from the version 343? Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

p.s. this is my website: castrofics.com it still says that site has been attacked bc i haven't sent it for google to verify that it's clean b/c it's not working now.

Did you actually reinstall the script or just upload a backup?

You should definitely have the same database version as the files, so if your database is 3.4.3 you would be safer sticking with that version of the files too.  The error is strange though if your files are all there. i just looked and got a  404... are other folders on the site accessable?

hi, jacci. i deleted all of my files and then uploaded all of my files from my computer. i did notice that when comparing the files that are on the remote site versus the files on my computer, files are smaller even though i didn't change anything. i used a ftp program to upload everything. all the files are there, but are smaller. i don't know what this means. should i manually upload every file? there are thousands of files to upload, but if i have to, i will. thanks.

If the file sizes are dramatically different, that could be a problem, and might be script changes made by the hacker. if you have a clean version of the 3.4.3 files from efiction install, i would probably upload those (if you dont i am pretty sure i have a zip of 3.4.3 if you need it).  If you upload everything from the clean files except for stories folder, skins and the config files, you will know for certain that you have non-corrupted files and would probably be the way i would attack the problem (have been hacked before and i wanted to make sure there were no infected files still on my site)

Hi, Jacci. If you have eFiction 3.4.3 somewhere, I'll take it and will be eternally grateful. This is the second or third time my site has been hacked/attacked. The last time, I deleted all of my files and reuploaded the files from my computer with no problems. I repeated the same process to no avail.  So if you so kindly share version 3.4.3, I'll appreciate. Also, do you know how I can prevent such attacks, again? Thank you much.

Have sent you a PM with link in for the 343 version. As for making your site more secure, if you can find out how they got in and nail that. Often video scripts are guilty cuplrits (that is how they got in twice on my sites) as well as outdated versions of scripts and it would be highly recommended to upgrade the efic install as soon as you get things working again to the latest version, same for any other scripts running on the site, most especially if you have a coppermine.
