Could ReCaptcha be added to replace the current captcha?

I've noticed there are a few of us that are having issues with the captcha and eFiction. I did some research and found that other programs had the same issue as we are having. It works fine until you enter the code and then it says the code is incorrect.

Some of the other sites replaced their captcha with recaptcha and it worked fine. Would that be possible or even something that would be worth doing? I know absolutely nothing about the coding to be able to try and play with it at all, and thought I would ask if it was even possible or if anyone has tried it?

The current captcha is obviously not going to work and I want to cut out as much spam as possible. I wasn't sure if changing to a different captcha method would do the trick. It seemed to work with other programs, but I also know that not all programs are alike.

Thank you for any suggestions or help with this. I was supposed to launch my site today, but cant' because I can't get this captcha thing worked out. Just trying to find a solution.

I personally have not have any problems with CAPTCHA on my site. And like you said re doing it is possible, but you have to really know coding to do so and you even stated that you know nothing about it. And as far as spam, if CAPTCHA isn't working that you will just have to manually delete spam (which I doubt you will recieve much) and just deal with not having it. I've had no problems once so ever with it on my site and it works perfectly. If you are looking to have coding for you're site done that it's proabably something you'll have to PAY somone to code for you. Getting something like that done for you would cost money and I've found that website coders over charge people (when I got my site coded years ago I found myself being overcharged). And second, spam shouldn't be a problem if you change you're site settings to where stories have to be approved, etc.

Actually Tammy figured it out and it wasn't the captcha at all. It was the $_SESSIONS weren't being stored from my server. I contacted my host and told them the problem and they updated it. It works fine now. Thanks for the reply.
