URL to your eFiction: http://www.libraryofmoria.com/a/
Version of eFiction: 3.5.2
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 4.4.7
Version of MySQL: 5.0.51
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: can't select categories
State the nature of your problem: When I highlight a category and click the arrow to select it nothing happens - I tried it in Firefox and Google Chrome. Everything else on the site seems to be working fine.
I am not sure if this is relevant but a few weeks back the site was 'infested' with virus and spyware. I cleaned it up and uploaded several stories with no problem. Also, when I open the site with Firefox, IE or Opera, neither my antivirus nor my spyware programs flare any warnings but when I try to get in with Google Chrome I get a warning that says:
"The website at www.libraryofmoria.com contains elements from the site sogpaoiy.the-mlmpowercall.com, which appears to host malware – software that can hurt your computer or otherwise operate without your consent. Just visiting a site that contains malware can infect your computer."
Is this just Google being behind or could any traces of the software really have been left behind. I cleaned everything up from scratch and changed the passwords...
Do you have a test account for us? Yes ( http://www.libraryofmoria.com/a/viewuser.php?uid=153). It was created by someone using the efiction gmail address and we do not know the password.
It's not a good test account if we can't get into it. A good one would be one you created and know the info to. Without an account that we can log into, we can't replicate results. :
I believe the story selection relies on Javascript. Are other Javascript elements malfunctioning as well? (The story warning popups/submission letter popups?)
You've commented out your javascript in header.php.
Hi
@Lindsay: The other javascript elements are working just fine.
@Tammy: I replaced the header.php file with the original from the latest version but the problem persists. Any ideas?
Thanks
I put an updated header.php in the SVN. Try that.
Hi,
I've downloaded the header file from here: http://efiction.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/efiction/header.php?view=markup&pathrev=16 - hope it was the right place.
I uploaded it but the problem persists...
Thanks for your reply.
Seems to be something in your tinyMCE setup. You're getting errors for that which are breaking the rest of the javascript. I suggest you re-upload the tiny_mce directory from the install package.
Hi Tammy,
I just reuploaded the whole tinymce folder but I still can't select categories... Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Tal
Are you sure you have the correct version of tinyMCE installed? Make sure you delete the entire folder then re-upload. I'd also disable tinyMCE in your settings to confirm that's the problem.
Hi,
I removed the TinyMCE folder and replaced it with the one extracted from the 3.5.2 package.
I tried to turn TinyMCE off at the admin panel > settings > TinyMCE configuration but I can't. The page that opens when I click the link is a page entitled "Message settings". I clicked every link on the settings sub panel and none gives the TinyMCE page.
Help?
Thanks for the support so far.
Talullah,
Don't hate me... but are you sure all of the tinymce uploaded properly? I ask because Tinymce is a hefty upload and sometimes when ftping it it won't upload everything.

Mucking around in eFiction since circa 2001 (ver. 1.0)
Now running v.3
Turning tinyMCE on/off is in the main settings form. The one that says message settings is how you set up a custom configuration. Also make sure you turn it off in your profile.
@Babaca: I don't hate you!! 🙂 You were right, though and a few parts of TinyMCE and other files were missing. I uploaded everything but it's still not working. 🙁
@Tammy: Thanks, I found it... but even after turning TinyMCE off it's not working.
Help, guys?
Thanks for everything so far.
From what FF is showing me your includes/javascript.js is missing or corrupt somehow.
Ok, thanks - that seemed to do the trick, yay!
