I'm kind of lost, very new to creating websites, I just know that I want a great fiction archive, but I'm not sure what efiction can offer, or how much each efiction site could vary.
*What kind of search engine does it have? More or less complicated than this? http://archive.shriftweb.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi Can it include/exclude as many categories/characters/fandoms/warnings as I want?
*Are efictionwebsites easy to navigate (for example category-wise, authors, pairings, fandoms)?
*Can users easily add stories?
*Can users add reviews?
*Do each user have a profile where email/homepage/links can be added?
*Is it easy to change layout?
*Does it have any specific restrictions hen it comes to how many stories that can be added or how many people that can be users/acess the site?
*Can users add banner/headers to their stories? [They way people usually add them in forum posts perhaps?]
Search engine: does that
Navigation: I consider it easy
Add stories: yes, various options
Review: yes, various options
Profile: yes
Layout: if you know basic HTML/CSS and read the docs it's fairly easy, but there is a small learning curve. lots of people make free layouts
Restrictions: No, but there are mods for limiting stories. As far as users you're only bounded by your server's capability. (My large site - 16,000+ members - sometimes has trouble with certain pages.) Also, you can limit the people able to post stories to a specific group.
Banners: Not as a built-in part of the script, though I think there are mods for that. If you allow the tag, then users can add images to their stories, however.
I suggest you visit a few websites that are running efiction and see what you think. Visiting those who promote their sites in the Efiction Sites portion of this site will give you an idea of what efiction can do and can look like.
