So I just set up my website. I'm still in the process of getting everything how I want it, but my co-admin posted a story as a test and asked me if there was any way to have it so the validation isn't necessary. Needless to say, her question confused me, since when I set everything up, I set "Turn off unsolicited submissions" to no and "Automatically validate all stories" to yes.

When you post, you get that drop-down to validate story, chapter or not at all. When I posted my story, I picked "story" but even after that, I had to go into the submission queue and validate it manually.

It auto-validates once I've validated the author in the admin panel, but until that's been done, it still goes to the queue.

Any idea why and how I can make it actually auto-validate?

Can you fill out the support request template? (Stickied at the top of the board.) Especially am curious about the question to whether or not your site is bridged.

Do you have access to your database? Can you verify these are set correctly in fanfiction_settings?

Um... no idea? You're gonna have to walk me through what you mean. I'm kinda a noob (I learn fast, tho!)

This is going to vary by your situation. Do you have access to PHPMyAdmin? Is there an area that you go to log in to your hosting account? You'd check for it there.

Hey, look at me not getting email notification of a reply...

Anyway, I got in, checked fanfiction_settings, and found this line: "autovalidate tinyint(1) No 0" which looks to me like it's set to not auto validate, but I don't wanna go messing with anything, because I don't actually know what I'm doing LOL

That's the table structure, it just means the default is 0. You want to check what the data in the actual field is. If you're using PHPMyAdmin this would be under the Browse tab.

See what value is in the autovalidate column. It should be 1. Probably is - just want to confirm.

So it should be working. Could you be more specific on your versions of PHP and MySQL? There have been some changes to each since the script was written and it would help troubleshoot.

MySQL:
Server version: 5.1.39-log
MySQL client version: 5.1.61

PHP:
... I have no idea how to find the exact version.

For reference, I'm using DreamHost.

You can go into your eFiction admin panel and click "PHP Info." It'll be at the top.
