URL to your eFiction: Local (MAMP)
Version of eFiction:  3.5.3
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 5.3
Version of MySQL:  5.1.44
Have you searched for your problem: Yes
If so, what terms did you try: 'escape' 'forward slash' 'escaping'
State the nature of your problem: When adding stories, Categories with forward slashes appear as "something%2Fother" rather than "something/other"
Do you have a test account for us? Sorry, no

I've just realised that after all these years, I never added Categories (or Characters!) to my site (it was just supposed to be a 'backup' site for a few authors). 2,000,000 words later, I thought I needed to add them, especially with the prospect of adding it to the list of supported sites for fanfictiondownloader.

Anyway, they added fine but when you go to assign them to a story, when selected, they appear with the %2F.  They appear okay until they're selected. Also okay when they display on the story list etc.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...

Edited to add: I did try to put a backslash in front of the / (e.g. / ) to escape it but although it looked fine in preview, as soon as it was selected it showed %2F (the backslash is the end of the things I know to try).
