this is my test site, and noticed i can no longer submit stories. i havnet fiddled with anything recently, and it is across all the skins, checked the censor settings (which are empty) and debug is not on. this seems to have spontanesouly happened and it isnt jsut my acount either. my live site is fine...scratch that, same problem there apparently. I can add a new chapter to existing story but not new story.
ETA: safe mode is OFF

just upgraded to 3.4.3 to see if that helped the situatino, but it is much worse now, will roll back the change tomorrow and reinstall and see how that goes.

To be on the safe side, I would see contact your web provider and see if they are doing something else that's mucking with your site. It never hurts to ask.

thanks barb, been there done that. They proclaiming innocent, although it strikes me as strange both sites struck, not just one.
also noticed that it is defninetly the summary that is the problem, the category, ratings, characters etc all hold, but the summary field is blank. and it is only for new stories, adding chaps is fine for existing stories, so it has to be in the summary somehow.
i also checked differnt browser as i know opera is playing silly buggers now with the site setting layout, but same result in both ie7 and ff.

Narrowing it down now
it seems the stories will submit just fine IF you turn off tinyMCE in the summary field, you can leave it on for all the other areas, but for some reason it is stripping the summary.
i have not messed with tinymce in either site (have restored test site back to 3.3.1 with clean install and issue still there but it fixed the categories issu 3.4.3 created)
any ideas on what might be causing this?

Just an oddball question... Are you using the language censor on your site? That seemed to be the problem with another person who was having similar problems. Once they disabled the naughty words she was able to submit stories.

hey barb, yeah i saw that too about the naughty words as well, and i checked that. I have never used it on the site and the list is empty. This jsut happened spontanously the other day, so it is very bizzare i am finding, since i have done nothing different or edited anything to cause it to all of a sudden not work. i got my host to check permissions and chown and they said it was all in order but reset it anyway, and still the problem is there, so i am not sure what the heck is going on.
