I have switched to site5 web hosting since Dream host turned out to be such a headache.
I have two questions..well 3 questions now. If anyone uses this site please reply.
1. I noticed that after I put up my database for efiction that i didn't have an efiction folder in my site's file like i did when i did the first site. Is this typical...Do I need to just create a folder in file manager?
2. Site5 uses several different folders in its file manager..one being public.html..I'm not sure where to place the efiction folder so it will come up..
3. There is a thing called FTP accounts on here. I never had to use that before. I always linked with my FTP client and presto. Is this something I'll need to do?
1. It's a new server, so you'll have to re-upload everything.
2. public_html is what is "viewed". So if you want to install efiction at yoursite.com/efiction, the "path" would be public_html/efiction
3. I'm a little confused. I don't use site5, so I'm not sure what their cPanel is like (I know some hosting providers have their own brands). I'm going to hazard a guess and say FTP accounts just lets you manage multiple FTP accounts to access your site internally. You might need to create a new FTP account, but chances are, one will already be set up with your root username and password.

Just to note, there is a post around here somewhere that talks about security, and notes that you shouldn't put your efiction install in a folder called "efiction" because it makes it easier for hackers to find.
On #3. If it's a typical cPanel install, then there will be a section on FTP management, to create accounts. There is a way to use FTP via a web browser, but it's not very great. These accounts are meant to be used with other FTP clients (I use FileZilla). If you want web-browser management, then you'll see a separate File Manager amongst the options. The main reason FTP is useful is for uploading large amounts of files, such as an entire eFiction install. I've also given out a bunch of FTP accounts to others that need to be able to upload files (such as for the podcasting, or for the subdomains we gave out for various things like a related fic exchange) but that I don't want to give the main site password to access cPanel. Also, I can limit the access of an FTP account to a certain folder.
