URL to your eFiction: www.fanpaws.net
Version of eFiction: 3.0
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: no
Version of PHP: 4.4.4
Version of MySQL: 4.1.21-standard
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: installation
State the nature of your problem: I don't understand how to install it. This line especially baffles me (from the readme): "4) Go to http://www.yoursite.com/ to run the install and set up the admin login." Can someone explani it to me? I think I have it right up until that point. (I'm using HostFreeWeb.com)
Do you have a test account for us? no

Once you read the other steps, you should be able to understand it.

Brand New Install:

If you know basic web stuff like CHMODing, look below at step #1. If you have
no clue what you're doing, just go to http://www.yoursite.com/ after uploading
all the files to your server.

1) If you intend to write the story texts to the server or allow image uploads
CHMOD the folder you intend to store the storis in to 777.  If this folder is
missing the script will attempt to create it for you during the install.

2) Move config.php from the docs folder to the main eFiction folder. If the
config.php is missing the install script will attempt to create it, but it's
best if you move it.

3) CHMOD config.php to 666.

4) Go to http://www.yoursite.com/ to run the install and set up the admin login.

5) Login with the admin login and password set in step #4, and complete the
configuration of your site through the Admin panel.

So all the installation is saying is upload all the files. Then run the install. simply go to yoursite.com/install.

I know I'm dumb but I still don't understand. I get to the point of having config.php turned to 666 and then I don't know what to do. I don't know if you mean litteraly go to www.yoursite.com/install or my site (fanpaws.net/install) but either way that didn't work for me...

Apparently your domain fanpaws.net isn't up, after doing a who.is search, I don't think you purchased it or you don't have it setup with your hosting. But when we say yoursite.com, we mean YOUR SITE. It seems like you first need to sort out issues with your domain first, or have eFiction setup on the temporary url/space the free hosting site you're using has.

Did you unzip the efiction file and upload those files to your web site? If you uploaded the file and the folders? Then it would be

www.fanpaws.net/eFiction31/install/install.php

But when I just go to fanpaws.net it looks like it's not a domain to me... or at least it's a domain that's registered. Are you sure you registered the domain?
