Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: no
Version of PHP: not sure
Version of MySQL: not sure
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: mysql, errors
State the nature of your problem: My site's been slow and erroring on and off for the past few months. I've talked with the webhost (hostmonster) various times and they assured me nothing was wrong with the site.
Today they suspended my account and when I called they said I had too many MYSQL queries? I'm not entirely sure what that means and they said they couldn't walk me through anything, or you know, help at all. They said that these queries are bogging down the entire server and that I have to fix them, otherwise they will suspend my account again.
I've had a friend who knows PHP check out the site a few months ago and he couldn't really see any problems with it.
I am really not sure what to do.
Help?
Thank you!
Arianne
How many members and stories do you have? You could try upgrading to the just released 3.4. That should speed up a few of the queries. If you don't have a huge archive, I would think it's more likely that you have a crappy host though.
We have about 4,821 members and 1,871 stories , is that considered large?
I think our host may, indeed, be crappy, though, but they refuse to admit it's an issue on their side.
Okay, more information from the talking with Monsterhost...
#1: PHP files can't execute because they're trying to be started too many times?
#2: We've been getting 23 MYSQL error logs in a day.
#3: When we go into the regular errors, admin.php, reviews.php, mysqli_functions.php, validate.php, stories.php, browse.php
has been unable to execute and coming up as empty queries.
They said they won't unsuspend the site until these issues are fixed. I feel backed into a corner.
Post or PM the error logs, but I can't see how these are in any way related. mysqli_functions.php is run every time you query the database. It's what all the queries run through. admin.php has a total of about 6 queries. They're all very small. browse.php and reviews.php I could see coming up because they're going to be called way more often than any of the other files except maybe viewstory.php. validate.php is only going to be called when you're validating a story in the submission queue. And it also has very few and very simple queries on the database...mostly a few update statements. However, the real hog on the database is members.php and that's not showing up at all.
You might try going into phpmyadmin and optimizing and repairing your tables.
Other than that, try upgrading to 3.4 as I said. You won't know if it's fixed though until they unsuspend the account. π
Thanks, Tammy, we updated and the site seems to be working now.
We just have an issue with story counts since the update. The site incorrectly lists some authors as only have one fic, but when they go into their account, all of their fan fics are in there. Any idea what's going on?
Should I make a new post for this issue?
Thanks!
Yes. Check and make sure that it hasn't already been reported. Thanks.
